In 2019, as the clock struck the 100-day countdown to the FIBA Basketball World Cup, this milestone moment signaled that the grand basketball event was drawing ever closer. At this crucial juncture before the tournament, Guangzhou Gymnasium, the competition venue for the Guangzhou division, successfully completed a comprehensive and high-standard renovation project, presenting a brand-new look to welcome this world-renowned basketball spectacle.
To meet the relevant standards and technical requirements of FIBA, Guangzhou invested a total of 38 million yuan in the meticulous upgrading of Guangzhou Gymnasium. A series of eye-catching measures were taken in the hardware equipment upgrades. Funnel screens and strip screens were newly installed inside the venue. These advanced display devices, acting like the "information hubs" on the court, perfectly met the stringent demands of large-scale events for sports presentations, real-time score displays, and the arrangement of the venue's image and landscape.
The LED displays within the sports venue were constructed by MR LED. These LED displays belong to the indoor full-color category, with a specification of P6. They adopted a unique irregular-shaped screen structural design, showcasing remarkable innovation and a sense of technology. The project was implemented at Guangzhou Gymnasium in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China. As an outstanding representative in the application category of sports venues, it provided a solid guarantee for the splendid presentation of the tournament.
Specifically, the LED display project includes two scoreboards with a total area of 93㎡, capable of clearly and accurately displaying the game scores, allowing spectators to keep abreast of the tournament dynamics at all times. The circular screen covers an area of 109㎡, encircling the court and offering viewers an all-round visual experience. The funnel screen, with an area of 102㎡, is suspended high above the court, resembling a gigantic "information cube" that presents wonderful scenes and key information to the audience from multiple angles. The combined area of these three types of displays reaches 304㎡, jointly creating a vast and awe-inspiring visual display system.
During the games, MR LED's LED displays, with their outstanding display effects, vividly presented every thrilling moment and every score change on the court to the on-site audience. Whether it was the intense confrontation scenes or the excellent performances of the athletes, they could all be perfectly reproduced on the large screens, making the audience feel as if they were at the heart of the competition, experiencing the passion and charm of basketball.
